How Do the Campaign Rules Work

Filters

  • Decide if the rule is for specific buyers or for everyone
  • Assign topic per rule
    • users have the option to run topic specific rules or run them to all topics

Conditions and Results

  • Conditions – determine if a campaign rule is going to trigger or not
    • Campaign Age – how long the campaign has been active
    • Spend – Daily spend amount
    • Status – If the campaign is on or off
    • Lifetime Spend – lifetime spend
    • ROI – ROI %
    • Profit – Rule triggers based off of taking profit into consideration
    • Remaining Budget – calculated as (Budget-spend)/ Budget
      • have your rule trigger based on % spend of the budget
    • s.CPA – Can base the rule on is the s.CPA is less than or greater than a value
    • t.CPA – Can base the rule on is the t.CPA is less than or greater than a value
    • t.CPA vs RPC Delta – Can base the rule on the difference between t.CPA and RPC
  • Results
    • Budget can be adjusted up or down by a dollar amount or a percent
    • Have the ability to set spend to current budget
    • Campaign Status
      • This determines if you want the campaign to stay on or off when the rule activates
    • Check the duplicate campaign box if you want the campaign to duplicate as part of the rule
    • If doing a lifetime budget, you can also extend the end date of the campaign
    • Interval Value at the bottom determines how often that rule runs if you do not have a schedule
      • if you have a schedule and the interval is on 30 minutes, that rule will trigger twice during the hour

Schedule

  • If you enable the schedule, you will be able to determine when the campaign rules are triggered
    • rules schedule run on Eastern Standard Time

Limits

  • Set Clone Limit (quantity)
    • The clone limit will allow orgs to set a “global” cap on how many times an individual campaign can be cloned in a single day. Meaning if a global limit has been set to 3, a campaign can not be cloned more than 3 times within that specific day.
  • Set Min Budget Limit (budget amount that we can’t decrease beyond)
    • This limit will be a global rule that in the event a campaigns budget is being decreased due to rules, Roots will never decrease a budget below whatever this amount is set to. Meaning if the limit is set to $20, regardless if the campaign continues to meet the rules criteria, we will never set the budget below $20.
  • Rule Execute Cap (do not execute the rule more than ‘x’ amount of times in a single day)
    • This cap will allow our users to set a cap that this rule can not execute beyond. Meaning, if the rule has a cap of 4 times in a day, after the 4th result change, we will no longer execute any rules regardless of a rule match.
