Traffic Source Templates automate all the repetitive settings required when creating a campaign and ads inside Facebook and other traffic sources. From our experience, most of the campaign and ad set settings are the exact same or very similar. Only the ads change. So rather than select all of the setting each time, you can create a template then select the template each time you create a campaign. The template will automatically update all the setting, and leave you focused on making more ads.
Step by Step
- Select Acquisition > Traffic Source Profile from the left column
- Select +New Profile light blue button in the top left of the main screen
- A “New Traffic Source Profile” window will appear
- Fill out the fields
- Traffic Source = Which traffic source needs a setting template
- Topic = Which topic is the template for
- In addition to being able to make a profile for specific topics, you can select the “ALL” topic and create a universal profile
- If you do go down the route of the “ALL” topics, all you would need to do is change the budget, geo, language, LT or LA per profile. Also include if you want ACB+ or AS+
- Click the “Continue” Link
- Fill out the fields
- A “Traffic Profile Settings” window will appear
- The settings page has many of the setting featured in the campaign, ad set, and even ad level settings of the traffic source. Since those are likely well known, we will focus on the settings which are unique to the platform.
- Name suffix = name of profile. This is not the campaign name. The name suffix will get automatically created based on the settings inside the traffic source
- Devices = You can select between targeting ALL devices, mobile or desktop
- If you select mobile, you will see the options to target Android or IOS
- ACB+ = if you want a budget on the campaign level/ have a CBO campaign
- Note: This will alter the formatting of the campaign as well. Instead of it being 1 ad set and many ads, the number of ad sets will be dependent on how many images you choose
- Budget Type = Daily or Lifetime
- Please note, If you are on Facebook and lifetime is selected you will see the “end date” section become clickable along with the “add schedule” section
- If you are on Tik Tok, you can add a schedule with a daily budget
- If daily budget selected, no need to worry about end date or ad schedule
- Turning AS+ on will turn the setting “Advantage shopping plus” on inside
- this is a FB specific feature and is a targeting feature they have
- ADD schedule section only matters if you have a lifetime budget
- the schedule is based on Eastern Standard Time
- Schedule Time Zone = Decide if you want the schedule to be based on the viewers time zone or the ad account time zone (which should be EST)
- by default, we select using the ad account time zone
- Launch Tomorrow = Otherwise known as `lt` sets the campaign launch for first thing in the next day. If not selected, the campaign will launch `la`, as soon as possible.
- End Date = can only be selected if you have a lifetime budget
- only options are 30 days and 60 days
- Dynamic Creative or Flexible Ad Format. If you want this on, click the box, if you want it off, keep as is.
- Quantity = The platform can launch duplicate campaigns across multiple accounts/pages. This feature can be used to assure the reason for poor campaign performance is not just a bad initial audience pool. This feature can be used to get volume up quickly without having a lot of ad accounts. If you do change that quantity amount, We suggest 2-3 for a new topic or creative pool.
- Bid= Will be set to a bid cap inside of FB, and TT will set the target CPA
- Important Note: it doesn’t work on AS+ since you can’t change bid strategy
- Budget = determine your budget for the campaign
- Age = Determine what ages you want to target
- Select the gender or genders you want to target
- Location = This is where you determine the location of where the campaign will be sending traffic. If you only select US, that is all that will be target.
- You can select “ALL” and have the campaign become worldwide and target all geos
- In addition, you can select multiple geos to target at once
- You can make a profile and select the US, Mexico, Brazil, and Spain and have it only be spanish.
- Language you would like to set
- Placements = You can select facebook only. Or Advantage+. We have seen success with both, but ADV + has been our go to.
